Prerequisites:

PuTTY (https://www.putty.org) must be installed on your computer to follow this training. You will also need an account and connection details for the HPC system you are wanting to connect to.

Learning objectives:

  • Use PuTTY to connect from a Windows PC to an HPC cluster
  • Configure PuTTY to prevent timeout disconnection, to use graphical user interfaces, to prevent timeout disconnection, and to pre-fill your username
  • Save the details of a PuTTY session to use for future connections to the same HPC cluster
